Darwin Remote Measurement Unit

The Darwin Remote Measurement Unit (DRMU) provides quality, reliability, and flexibility of a lightweight and adaptable data acquisition system. All your measurement and control needs can be answered by combining the DRMU with other equipment to operate a desired control system.

The DRMU is a remote data acquisition unit using a YOKOGAWA® DARWIN configured with a 30 channel analog input card. The unit is adaptive to most environments making it easy for the Ethernet based DARWIN to be used in most industry applications by standardizing the I/O and having all of it accessible from one panel. The standard DRMU (DA30) offers thirty thermocouple input channels that are located on the front panel. Each DRMU is supplied with a power supply cord, which connects to the power inlet connector with an additional power jumper cable to supply power to any additional DRMU’s. Data acquisition is acquired through a standard Ethernet network. Many other options are also available for different connector configurations to meet specific applications. Some of these include internal pressure transducers and pulse measurement.

The interface connector panel utilizes push button binding posts that allow thermocouple wire to be easily connected. Harsh environments are no problem for the DRMU by having the enclosure internally sealed. Custom-built connector configurations are also offered by H&A, please call for details.

Rugged Enclosure Design

The uniquely designed enclosure contains two major pieces, which consist of a corner, and flat extrusion that enables the enclosure to be very rugged once assembled. The aluminum extrusions are black anodized to provide a durable and corrosion resistant enclosure. Once assembled and sealed the enclosure provides a NEMA 4 or 12 enclosure providing that watertight connectors are used on the interface panel.

The enclosure includes a special dovetail track system that allows multiple optional units to be mounted to all sides of the enclosure. Multiple enclosures of varying sizes can be interlocked together including the; volt, amp, watt, and watt hour (VAW-01), and power switch unit (PSU-04) offered by H&A. A wall mounting plate is also available to allow quick installation and removal without tools. Handles and isolation feet are also available.

Hooks & Associates, Inc. also offers a complete engineering department and fabrication shop to design and outfit enclosures and/or panels per your specifications. Panels can be configured with connectors, switches, displays etc. to meet your requirements.

Software Support

In order for data to be acquired from the YOKOGAWAâ DARWIN, Hooks & Associates, Inc. developed a Windows software driver. This driver creates system software pipes directly to the application software. Other software services are available, including custom application development using the latest programming tools running on Windows platforms.

Success at Hooks & Associates Inc. has been based upon responsiveness to customer and market needs in manufacturing and industrial data acquisition, communications, record keeping and reporting. Today, Hooks & Associates Inc. commitment to the market continues, with an active R&D effort designed to develop products, test systems, and services that meet or exceed requirements, today and in the future.
