Volt, Amp, Watt and Watt Hour Transducer Unit

The Volt, Amp, Watt, and Watt Hr Transducer Unit (VAW) provides quality, reliability, and flexibility of a lightweight and adaptable transducer for measuring product power. All your power measurements of products can answered by combining the VAW with the Remote Measurement Unit (RMU) or other equipment.

Applications include;

 

Equipment monitoring for process control.
Power monitoring on products.
Integration into energy management systems, or a variety of sub-metering applications.
Measurement using direct-connection, current and/or potential transformers.
The VAW consists of multiple Ohio Semitronics, Inc. transducers that are pre-wired in a complete assembly for the acquisition of voltage, amperage, watts, and watt hrs of a connected product. Although, the current specifications are for specific transducers that have been chosen for this unit, Ohio Semitronics, Inc. offers many types of transducers and options that could easily be accommodated. The unit contains an IEC 320 AC inlet for product power with an additional outlet for daisy chaining additional VAW units. One IEC 320/F outlet is available for supplying measured product power. Instrument power is supplied through a 3-pin watertight connectors with an additional female for daisy chaining power to other instruments. An 8-pin watertight connector user interface is provided for acquisition of measurement signals from the internal transducers.

The unit is adaptive to most environments making it easy for the VAW unit to be used in most industry applications by standardizing the I/O and having all of it accessible from one panel. Each VAW is supplied with an instrument supply, instrument jumper cable, product power, and product supply jumper cables. Many other options are also available for different transducer and connector configurations to meet specific applications.

Rugged Enclosure Design

The uniquely designed enclosure contains two major pieces which consist of a corner and flat extrusion that enables the enclosure to be very rugged once assembled. The aluminum extrusions are black anodized to provide a durable and corrosion resistant enclosure. Once assembled and sealed the enclosure provides a NEMA 4 or 12 enclosure providing that watertight connectors are used on the interface panel.

The enclosure includes special dovetail tracks that allows multiple optional units to be mounted to all sides of the enclosure. Multiple enclosures of varying sizes can be interlocked together including the; remote measurement unit (RMU-01) and power switch unit (PSU-04) offered by Hooks and Associates, Inc. A wall mounting plate allows quick installation and removal without tools. Handles and isolation feet are also available.

Hooks & Associates, Inc. also offers a complete engineering department and fabrication shop to design and outfit enclosures, panels, and integration of complete test systems per your specifications. Panels can be configured with connectors, switches, displays etc. to meet your requirements.
